On Thursday, April 25th, the Volunteer Programmers of KZUM were proud to be the recipients of Volunteer Partners’ annual “Volunteers of the Year” award. In 2012, KZUM was blessed to have the dedication of 115 volunteers who logged 8,736 hours! As is the case with many non-profit organizations, KZUM relies on the help of those who donate their time and talents for the good of the station and the community. We are so grateful for those folks who have helped keep KZUM on the air for 35 years – Thank you!
We are also very grateful to the folks at Volunteer Partners for the honor. When you do what you love, you don’t think twice about it, but it does feel good to have someone notice your hard work every now and then. They put on an enjoyable awards presentation, and KZUM was definitely the best represented group there.
As the Mayor was unable to attend, City Councilman Gene Carroll presented a proclamation, officially declaring April 21-26, 2013 as Volunteer Week in the city of Lincoln. Volunteer Partners Executive Director Julie Smith also presented Carroll with an over-sized check for almost $41 million – the amount of money that Volunteer Partners agencies saved the city of Lincoln in 2012!
Thank you, again, to Volunteer Partners and to all of the dedicated volunteers at KZUM!
