Noyes Art Gallery | First Friday Artist Meet & Greet
On Fri., Nov. 3, 6-8 p.m., Noyes will open its November Focus show with work by eight Noyes members and one guest artist. This show will feature diverse styles and media from traditional imagery to abstract work and textiles. Live-stream of the opening and brief artist talks will be broadcast on Noyes Gallery's Facebook page at 7 p.m. The show will also be displayed at the gallery during regular hours Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. through November. https://nebraskasynod.org/event/freed-for-life-2023/ Freed for LIFE is an annual gathering of people supporting transformed lives to help incarcerated people escape the incarceration cycle and communities to escape the cycle of violence. Freed for LIFE raises money and volunteers for two programs - Followers of Christ Prison Ministry and the FEAST Ministry at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church - that foster this change. There will be light hors d’oeuvres, an opportunity to visit display tables of related reentry agencies, and a short experiential program designed to show people what it is like to traverse incarceration and reentry hurdles in Nebraska.

The Lincoln Civic Orchestra is presenting their fall concert "Old. New. Borrowed. Blue." at Nebraska Wesleyan University's O'Donnell Auditorium in the Rogers Fine Arts Center on Sunday, November 5 at 4pm. The concert and following reception are free and open to all members of the public. Lincoln Literacy's Global Celebration will feature a plated dinner and cash bar with table service (provided by the Cornhusker Hotel), social time, an international performance by Latino dance group Sangre Azteca, keynote speaker Dinorah Garcia (KZUM radio host), and a cultural art sample from our summer Art Family Camp students. Meditation and Music
Music and Meditation. Attendees in the chapel will get to hear musical instruments from around the world, hear a bit about the history of musical instruments and meditation, see music and dance, and then experience a short sound bath meditation. Then participants can move to the sanctuary for a compline time of chanting and candlelight. Leaders include Brent Shaw, Cindy Mohr (Blue Pearl Reiki), Maribel Cruz and Oscar Rios. Meditation class from 5:45 to 6:50, gregorian chanting candlelight from 7 to 7:30pm.
