Live in Lincoln is a new concert series in Lincoln that showcases live music every Thursday night at ChezSoDo on 11th and K Street starting at 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. It’s a free event showcasing a different band band every Thursday.

Coordinator for the series, Fly Jamerson said, “ChezSoDo is open from 5-10 p.m. on Thursdays for the series with music starting at 7 p.m. ChezSoDo’s full menu is available with additional drink and dinner specials created by Chef Sean Carmichael. With a new group every week, each night of the series is fresh and exciting. Many of the groups are well-known in the area and play both favorite hits in their respective genres and also original music.”

Even though the series is well into its fall lineup, it had showcased thus far bands like Ed Love and Annette Murrell. The lineup for the upcoming series is local band The Lightning Bugs on Nov. 7th, the Nebraska Brass on Nov. 14th, an eclectic mix of standards and rock from Skylark on Nov. 21st, jazz with the Jim Williamson Trio on Dec. 5th and acoustic Americana and Bluegrass with The McGovern Stringband on Dec. 11th. There is a special Wednesday night event due to a previous event scheduled at ChezSoDo on Dec. 12th and The Shucks Brothers closing the year on Dec. 19th with bluegrass, jazz, and swing.

“LIVE! in Lincoln provides the Lincoln community with a night of free music with great food and drinks in a downtown venue, all while supporting a local business and local musicians. Because of the variety of groups involved with the series, there’s always a chance to discover something new or see your favorite performers from the area,” Jamerson said.

The event is to bring the Lincoln community together to enjoy local music. Since this is the first year, its objective is to collaborate with ChezSoDo on this series to include a wide variety of genres and artists.

“The overall goal is the effort to support local musicians. Dean Haist has been an integral part of the music community in Lincoln for over three decades and is passionate about developing musicians and contributing to the overall life and longevity of the local music scene; LIVE! in Lincoln definitely serves as an extension of that overall commitment,” Jamerson said.
