
KZUM is an independent, community radio station operated by Sunrise Communications Inc. (501C3) in Lincoln NE since 1978. Over 100 volunteers produce music, public affairs and podcast programming that is available at 89.3FM and worldwide at KZUM.org. The mission of KZUM is to educate and build community through broadcast media, with diverse and independent voices that enrich the perspectives of our audiences.
Position overview:
The Production Assistant is responsible for editing/producing content for broadcast and online outlets such as KZUM.org and social media. Additionally, this position assists the Program Director in daily production tasks. This is a part time (25- 30 hours weekly), non exempt position that reports to the General Manager. The hourly wage is $16.50.
Responsibilities:
- Edit and upload content for podcasts.
- Create HD IDs, Sonic IDs and station promotional announcements.
- Assist with KZUM sponsored events (web/ audio content).
- Assist Program Director with on air programming duties, as needed.
- Assist Program Director with programmer training courses.
- Assist station interns, as needed.
- Training podcasters and volunteers in production studios.
- Assist staff with social media promo.
- Participate in execution of 3 yearly fundraising drives.
Desired Qualifications:
- Proficiency with audio editing.
- Proficiency with social media platforms such as: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter.
- Proficiency with Google suite.
- Familiarity with WordPress websites (or willing to train).
Required abilities:
- Comfortable with providing voiceovers.
- Excels in a creative environment.
- Strong team player.
- Reliable.
- Committed to working with and supporting our community.
- Ability to meet deadlines and complete tasks with or without supervision.
- Able to work some weekend hours with advance notice.
