A note about the mission, history, and culture of Sunrise Communications Inc.:

Sunrise Communications Inc. operates 89.3 FM KZUM: a wacky, silly, serious, funky, and compassionate community-supported nonprofit radio station in Lincoln, NE. Now in our 45th year, KZUM is powered by a diverse group of over 100 volunteers who produce over 7000 hours of programming every year. We serve our community by extending our media platform to those who do not have a voice anywhere in our local media. Job Purpose:

Over 50% of KZUM’s budget is raised locally through donors and business sponsors. The other half of our revenue comes from grants dependent on local funding. The underwriting director works collaboratively with KZUM’s general manager to raise funds for the station, build relationships with sponsors, and promote the station to the public through community engagement.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate and manage underwriting/sponsorship relationships
  • Create and maintain underwriting/sponsorship and in-kind media contracts
  • Writing on-air announcement text that meets FCC requirements for noncommercial radio
  • Schedule and maintain invoices
  • Assist team in prep and operations on 3 yearly on-air fund drives.
  • Assist team in fundraising events and community outreach
  • Attend weekly staff meetings

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree or experience in sales or non-profit fundraising
  • Familiar with Google Suite or willing to learn

Special Requirements:

  • Some night and weekend hours are required. Flex Time available

Position Details:

  • Full-time ( 40 hours a week).
  • Base salary plus commission.
  • Paid holidays, flex time, personal and vacation days.
  • Works directly with the general manager
