There has been a bit of a cold snap in the region this week. Lincoln has been pretty fortunate in terms of avoiding the cold temperatures, but there is no denying it now; winter is here. The great people over at Salt Creek have been working in cooperation with The Bourbon to bring a two-stage music event to bring us out of our cold weather-slump.

This Saturday, The Bourbon Theatre will host Christmas Vacation Fest 2019. This is a two-stage, nine-band event with a “Hawaiian Shirt Contest” and Santa photo booth. “We have lays, back drops, fake palm trees,” said one of the organizers of the event, Nathan Richardson.

Between the decorations and Hawaiian Shirt Contest, Richardson hopes to make it feel a bit more like Summer, “This is aimed to break people out of it and have a fun show where they can dress up like it’s July and they’re out grillin’.” Even if you don’t mind the cold, the music alone will provide a lot for enjoyment, “Expect it to seem like your friends birthday party that their parents forgot the prior year, so they’re going a bit too crazy this year around.”

The lineup for Saturday features a lot of young, up-and-coming local musicians like Kill Vargas, Salt Creek, Death Cow, Been Better, Mad Dog and the 20/20s and more. This event is all ages and planned to become an annual event. With the University Semester winding down, this will be a great way to unwind from all the stress. As Richardson put it, “You don’t have to dress up if you don’t want to! Have a dang blast and get your mind off of your uncle’s future lecture about how art school isn’t a ‘real degree’.”
