Jewel Rodgers is the 2025 - 2029 State Poet of Nebraska, a three-time OEAA nominee for Best Performance Poet in Omaha. We are Lincoln's roller derby team and this game will be our Ice Box season opener along with our pride bout. We have been in Lincoln since 2005 and are still going strong! We have two teams, the Mad Maxine's (our A team) and the Road Warriors (our B team). This game is special because GA tickets are only $3! Lincoln Poetry Slam! presented by the Nebraska Writers Collective continues this summer. Larksong Writers Place proudly hosts the Poetry Slam! on the second Thursday of each month. All events are also live-streamed for poets and fans across the state. On Friday June 13, 2025 Star City Pride hosts "Free Pride" Fest at Woods Park at 33rd and O Street from 4 - 10 PM with vendors, booths, activities. On Saturday at 10 AM is the annual Star City Pride Parade around the Capitol Building, and then from Noon until 10 PM, the "LOVE is a RIOT" Pride Fest takes place on 17th Street between O and P, near Das House. Jewel Rodgers is the 2025-2029 Nebraska State Poet. She will read from her poetry at The Lion on June 13th, 2025, from 6 PM to 7:30 PM. Jewel is a three-time Omaha Entertainment and Arts Award nominee for Best Performance Poet in Omaha, and a three-time TEDx speaker. She is also a 2022 Union for Contemporary Art Fellow, a 2023 Andy Warhol - Populus Fund Grantee, and a 2024 Blackberry Peach Poetry Slam finalist. An interdisciplinary poet, performer, and visual artist, Jewel is also an urban engagement specialist, youth coach, and spatial practitioner in the Midwest.

The outstanding Johnny Cast tribute band, the Church of Cash, will be performing at 7:00 pm on Friday June 13, at the Pla Mor Ballroom in Lincoln, NE. The band has performed 100’s of shows throughout the US and Europe. It’s a fundraiser for the Charlie Wilson House, a group home for severely disabled adults in Lincoln, With your ticket purchase online at www.charliewilsonhouse.org, you’re helping fulfill the dreams for these young adults by allowing them to live independently. This is a FREE fishing tournament organized by the Nebraska Fish & Game Association (NEFGA.org). Kids and their families may compete for awards and prizes by catching the largest number of white perch within the tournament time window or just fish for fun - this is going to be fun for everyone!
