Gratitude Cafe and Bakery, 1551 N. Cotner Blvd., will host “A Show of Gratitude” this Saturday from 1 to 7 p.m. at the nearby Cotner Center, 1540 N. Cotner Blvd. A celebration of the cafe, proceeds raised will go to the Gratitude Building Recovery Fund to assist with foundation repair.
“A Show of Gratitude” will showcase the homemade goodies of Gratitude Cafe and Bakery as well as the local artists. Seven local bands are scheduled to perform, including Paddywhack, Jim Pipher and The Melody Wrangler Trio, John Walker and the Prairie Dogs, Aunt Bunnie’s Parlor, The Big Bluestem Boys, and Burnt Biskits.
Gratitude hopes the event will bring community together to celebrate local music and local food. A free will offering will be requested at the door.
Owner Kat Cloran opened the business in 2011, hoping the bakery could create a unique and genuine place for community members to come together, enjoy each other and enjoy homemade wholesome food. Its offerings include fair trade coffee and tea, homemade baked goods made with local ingredients, in-season soups and sandwiches and an evening selection of local beer and wine.
“It is hoped this event will introduce a wider group to the wonder that is Gratitude, with its food, music and welcoming hosts, Kat and ‘Momma,’”said musician CA Waller, an organizer of the event.
Because the cafe is in a 100-year-old Bank Building in the Bethany neighborhood,. Cloran and her staff hold the history of the community near and dear to their hearts. They are grateful for the community support.
“We are thrilled and humbled by the generosity of these incredible local musicians,” the cafe wrote on Facebook.
