Shanan Ballam is Poet Laureate of Logan City, Utah and teaches English and Composition at Utah State University, teaching poetry writing and composition. In 2022, she survived a massive stroke that left her without speech and other limitations. Her collection of poems about her experience with the stroke, titled “first poems after the stroke” was published in May 2024 by Finishing Line Press. Shanan will read from her book.
