The Nebraska Folk & Roots Festival will return for its fifth year at a new location in Elkhorn this Friday and Saturday.
Kinkaider Brewing Company will present the festival at Riverwest Park, 233rd & West Maple Road. Two stages will accommodate 20 performers that include Nebraska artists and nationally touring performers Advance tickets are available now at nebraskafolkandroots.com.
In the past, the festival has been held in June and at Branched Oak Farm near Raymond. But Riverwest Park is a familiar site for hosting music festivals and will have more infrastructure, camping, tubing and shade, according to festival organizer Mike Semrad.
The festival is again packed with artists, vendors, workshops, games, food, camping and more, including a youth guitar and fiddle competition For those interested in camping or tubing, make sure you reserve your spot, find more information on Riverwest Park’s website.
OnFriday, New York songwriter Peter Case will take the stage. While some may not know his name, you maye heard a local artist cover one of his songs. With his first Grammy nomination, “Old Blue Car,” topping The New York Times’ list of best albums, Case is not a performance you want to miss out on.
Written and talked about in Rolling Stone Magazine, Rolling Stone Country, The Fader and NPR Music, Becca Mancari has been booked this Saturday, squeezed in between her jam-packed schedule (she’s currently on tour with Shovels & Roper. Her debut album, Good Woman, takes listeners with her as she recreates her travels. From her time in India to Nashville, she found inspiration to create her raw, fresh sound.
Despite a few changes to this year’s festival, bringing the finest Nebraskan and nationally touring artists from the Americana genre will never change. With this year’s lineup, it will be an amazing weekend!
