This Sunday is lucky number seven for Love, The Locals Holiday Edition, showcasing handmade work from your very own friends and neighbors here in Nebraska.
With shopping, live music, food and beer — all supporting the community — who could ask for a better day? Admission is $5 and free for those 18 and under with a portion of the proceeds going to Wonderfully Made,an organization with the mission of providing opportunities to kids with special needs in the Lincoln community.
The event will be held at The Bay from noon until 5 p.m. The first 50 people will receive a “pretty epic swag bag” with some free beer coupons from long-time sponsor, Zipline Brewing Co.
Love, The Locals is an event created by four friends, who are makers themselves. Kaitlyn Bright (Owl People), Heather Eigisti (Oliver & Lucy Designs), Machelle Kolbo (Machelle Kolbo Design Studio) and Alicia Reisinger (Wax Buffalo) gathered together on a summer night and created the idea of an event that supported makers and buying local goods.
With a joyful event like this. it’s hard to pick just a single favorite memory from previous years. The day is full of smiles and the community coming together sharing their creations with other community members. For the future of the event, Kolbo (and the team) hope that it will continue to be a place for locals supporting each other and elevating the experience of shopping local. Kolbo also hinted that there are some fun ideas for additional events, expansion and ways to include more local makers.
Sunday’s festivities are for everyone, so bring family and friends to enjoy the holiday market with. There will be tons of food, coffee, beer, music and over 50 makers to shop from.
