On Sunday, Dale Watson and his Lone Stars rolled into Lincoln and rocked Gray’s Keg Saloon! It was a very special night as KZUM sponsored the show that included Lincoln’s own Wendy and the Lost Boys followed by the Austin, TX legend Dale Watson.  From his Lone Star Beer endorsements to some of the finest musicianship on the road today, Dale kept the audience dancing, smiling and havin’ a good ol’ time.  Mr. Watson continues to champion the Ameripolitan Music movement   http://www.ameripolitan.com/ to honor and preserve the roots of Country music.  His support of current artists was evident when Dale invited Lloyd McCarter to the stage!  Lloyd McCarter and the Honky Tonk Revival, based out of Lincoln, are hitting the region this summer.  http://lloydmccarter.com/ Lloyd joined the Lone Stars for a couple of crowd favorites including

Waylon and Willie’s “Good Hearted Woman”.  Dang, but it was awesome to hear such strong voices cover a Honky Tonk Hero classic.

Dale’s set included a few songs off of his 2016 release “Under The Influence”, several requests from the audience which included Jerry Reed’s “Amos Lee” as well as his tribute to the dearly missed Merle Haggard; “Feeling Haggard”.  Whether they played a traditional Texas two-step or the raucous version of “Amos Lee”, his fans dug it and it looked like the band did as well.  A quote from Dale sums it up:

“If you ask any guy in my band, they’ll tell you that anytime we get together to play, I say the same thing. I’ve only got one rule. It’s a steadfast rule, but only one… and that’s to have fun”

Twyla Twang hosts “HonkyTonk Heroes” every Friday from 9 to 10 p.m on KZUM.
