Juneteenth began as a holiday to commemorate the announcement on June 19, 1865, that slavery was abolished. This holiday sparks many celebrations all across the country, including right here in Lincoln.
Living up to its tradition Nebraska’s Folk & Roots Festival is celebrating its sixth year this year, with Grammy Winning artists, competitions, food and prizes. This year’s attendance is expected to surpass previous years.
On June 15 the Downtown Lincoln Association is holding the first ever Downtown Family Day. This free event is held at Tower Square, where families will be able to enjoy the day with fun activities.
Due to the high threat of rain, Jazz In June was moved indoors to The Bourbon Theatre. The packed venue featured a night full of Brazilian Jazz and Bossa Nova from Utah-based group, Evening In Brazil.
Latino Lives is a festival featuring Latinx musicians and groups. This second year of the festival grew to two days and took place at The BAY.
After a little bit of uncertainty with the weather, we were able to host The Inbetweens and Gerardo Meza & The Dead of Night for a still night of music and fun.
This Friday and Saturday, the Bay will be filled with music lovers of all ages for the second annual Latino Lives.
